CELEBRATING THE YEAR

We were delighted that so many of you were able to make our last major event of 2025 – the Bristol Karate Academy Christmas Party & Awards!

A maximum capacity 120 people filled Backwell Parish Hall to celebrate what has been a truly remarkable year for the Academy and its members.

The event kicked off with our annual pub quiz, led by the Connell family. Quiz teams did themselves proud as they puzzled their way through the afternoon, with rounds including photos of Academy members as you’d never seen them before and the crowd-favourite ‘will it sink or will it float’ round. A huge well done to the team led by Robin and Isabel Walton for winning a hamper of goodies for their table!

We were proud to celebrate so many of this year’s successes at the event, including getting up our nine members selected for the 2026 JKS World Championships. Thanks to everyone that bought raffle tickets in our first round of fundraising to help the team fund their trip to Brazil. Congratulations to the following raffle winners:
  • £100 Amazon voucher: Luke Kerr
  • Christmas hamper: Goodman family
  • Quantum Coffee roasters large goodie bag: Nicki Watts

The Academy wouldn’t be the success it is without all of you. Thank you to our members, parents of our younger members and everyone that puts so much into keeping everything on running smoothly. We were proud to recognise our instructors and helpers for their extraordinary contributions throughout the year. Thank you to all of you.

Each year we take time to recognise a number of members through our annual Academy awards. And each year it gets more and more difficult to pick winners from such a thriving and high-achieving membership. Take a look at who won what. Well done not only to our winners but to each and every one of you for your incredible efforts this year.

While the awards were done and dusted, there were still a few more gifts to give out – but this time from a special guest – none other than Father Christmas! We’re very grateful to him for taking time out of his busy schedule to provide gifts and chocolates to all of the children – and a smattering of ‘young at heart’ members too!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Christmas Party & Awards a fantastic and friendly event this year and thank you to everyone who came! While we still have lessons until Tuesday 23rd December, we’re already looking forward to seeing how you all shine in 2026!
