CLASSES

Whether you're a beginner or you're advanced, there's a class for you

We train four times a week across our venues. For details of the training times available for each venue, go to our venues page.

We cover a full traditional Karate syllabus, taking you through Karate basics, kata (traditional sequences or forms) and sparring, from controlled drills for beginners right through to free sparring for those more experienced. Many of our classes are for mixed ages and abilities, meaning they're perfect for both individuals and families alike.

Classes for children and teenagers

Classes for children and teenagers

Karate is an excellent activity for children. It requires them to listen carefully, act on instructions and stay focused. The concentration, commitment and dedication required can help you or your child to build a strong, confident and determined character. The respect and discipline taught inside the dojo is beneficial in the outside world too. Parents and teachers continually report on the improvement in the behaviour of children who train regularly.

Karate is excellent for building strength, balance and co-ordination, while the opportunity to take belt examinations regularly teaches children the link between effort and reward.

All Bristol Karate Academy clubs offer classes for children aged 7 and upwards, while Backwell Karate also offers a special programme dedicated to children aged 5-7.

Visit the Bushido Warriors page to find out when the next course for 5-7 year olds starts. Or to get in touch about any other class and to book your first lesson, click below.

Classes for adults

Karate can help you improve your fitness, flexibility and overall well-being. It can help release stress, whether by hitting pads or simply taking your mind off of the daily grind. You can start Karate at any age. In fact at our dojos our adult members range from 18 to sixty-something.

In our mixed age classes parents tell us that they love the fact they can do an activity alongside their children, while others like the opportunity to work their fitness and test themselves in our hard working sparring nights.

Get in touch to tell us what you're looking for and we can help you find to the best class to suit you.
