Bristol Karate Academy

On the last weekend of August, the JKS England team - including 11 Bristol Karate Academy athletes - took part in the BKF British International Open.

Held in Sheffield, the event saw members from the BKF four member nations compete, along with athletes from across the world. Registered to compete were competitors from 13 countries.

We were delighted to contribute to JKS England’s incredible medal tally and being part of JKS England teams for both kata and kumite.

In total, Bristol athletes were awarded or contributed to 13 medal placings, which is a club record at this event. The level of success of this group is down to their continued hard work and their fantastic high performance culture.

BRONZE for Josh Mashford in Male Senior Team Kumite, with Remi Jurgilaitis, Luciano Zanuni and Anthony Halsall
BRONZE for Liam Mashford in Male Junior Team Kumite, with Harrison Frear, Jack Olivier, Adam Clayton and Goutham Sunil
BRONZE for Oli Hulbert in Male Cadet Team Kumite, with Ryan Waterfield, Lewis Simmons, Jamie Rial and Jamie White
