A big congratulations to our newest black belt, Benjamin Griffiths, who passed his shodan exam under a panel led by Alan Campbell Sensei on Sunday 3rd August.

Benjamin started training in 2019, as part of our Warriors classes. He is the seventh member to progress right the way through the programme and we hope this provides inspiration for our 5-7 year olds!

Benjamin has made an impressive start to the year, starting with being selected for the JKS England squad in January. In April he was crowned BKF British kata champion in Edinburgh. In the last month he was part of the winning kumite team at the Central England Open and at his most recent tournament he became Welsh Open kata and kumite champion.

In the grading itself, Benjamin looked confident and assured in his kihon (basics), composed and on-point in his kumite and focused and sharp throughout his kata.

We’re very proud of Benjamin and his latest achievement and look forward to seeing him to continue to develop in the years ahead as he wears his black belt with pride.
