Bristol Karate Academy instructor Tim Griffiths has been named as part of the JKS England team for the JKS World Championships in Japan next year.

This prestigious event will be an incredible opportunity to compete against some of the world's finest competitors in the home of karate. The championships will be held in Tokyo and will see competitors from across the globe congregate for the honour of becoming JKS World Champion.

Tim has been selected in the kata division, where he's had a number of successes over the last two years, including becoming BKF British Champion in +35 Kata and also taking medals in the same category at both the CKF Commonwealth Karate Championships in 2022 and at last month's Basel International Open in Switzerland.

"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to compete at such an incredible event," says Tim. "I've been doing karate for a great many years and I can't think of another tournament that I've taken part in that will compare. The chance to compete alongside JKS and WKF world champions in the city where the very first Shotokan Karate dojo was opened is a dream come true.

"I'm very grateful to JKS England for providing me with so many fantastic opportunities over the last few years and I'll do my best to make sure I represent them to the very best of my ability."

The event takes place in July 2024 and the hard training starts now.
