SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR LOCKDOWN 2
By Admin
02 November 2020 1:19 pm

  • Face-to-face classes continue on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Classes from Thursday return to Zoom for the one month lockdown at our pre-COVID usual training times.
  • Seminar with Sensei Jimmy Brennan to be rescheduled.
With the introduction of a new government-imposed lockdown from Thursday morning, we have updated our training schedule from this week.

Classes continue as usual on Tuesday in both Long Ashton and Westbury-on-Trym, as well as on Wednesday in Nailsea. As at 2nd November there are still spaces available in all three of these classes and members can book in advance in the usual way.

From Thursday 5th November our classes return to Zoom, with members able to train from their own houses. Turn up when you normally do, but by logging on instead of travelling to the dojo.

Classes will run to our usual pre-COVID schedule, with Zoom classes for each and every class that would normally run face-to-face in all of our venues. Please note that while we recently added a 7.15-8.15pm class for Westbury on Tuesdays, this will not run on Zoom. Those wishing to train on Tuesdays can train from 6.30-7.30pm on Zoom.

While we return to online classes, we’ll aim to open each Zoom class a few minutes early and end the meeting a little late so that before and after training you can chat with your club mates like you normally do. We’re also opening the doors to our virtual pub, ‘The Bruised Arms’ for post-training drinks this Friday 6th November from 9pm to continue the chat.

HOW TO BOOK

With the success of our new online booking platform, classes can continue to be booked online, but there will be room for each and every one of our members in every class, so you don’t need to worry about getting a space.

Once you book, you’ll receive an email giving you your Zoom code.  While we’d encourage you to book early so there are no problems with receiving your confirmation email, if you happen to forget to register until the last minute then you should still be able to log in instantly.

If you are logging in for a class on Wednesdays and Fridays (when our sessions run back-to-back) please bear in mind that the class may start and finish a minute or two after the advertised times. You will not lose out on any training time.

While we don’t publish the booking link on our website, members are sent details on a weekly basis by email and we also share information on our ‘members only’ private Facebook group. If you’re a member then request to join. For any non-members wishing to follow or support Bristol Karate Academy, while you aren’t able to join our private group, we’d encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. See the icons at the top of this page for more information.

We’ve updated our Q&As if you have any further questions.

THANK YOU

We are hugely grateful to you, our members, for your continued support and flexibility during such a difficult time. We hope that the continuity of our training schedule helps you to maintain a level of normality in challenging circumstances and thank you for dedication and kind messages of support.

We are determined to continue helping our members prepare for kyu and dan grade exams in the winter and spring as well as support your fitness, wellbeing and ongoing learning of the martial art that we all love.

This is just another bump in the road. We are Bristol Karate Academy. By virtue and industry, we will get through this together.
