Congratulations to our small squad who brought two bronze medals home from this year’s JKS England National Championships.

The tournament – held in Nottingham – uses WKF rules that are different to the other competitions that we’ve entered this year. Organised by JKS England, it pits some of the top performers at Bristol Karate Academy against clubs from across the country in what’s probably the biggest Shotokan Karate organisation in England outside of the KUGB.

Bristol Karate Academy has a successful history in Team Kata, including at the JKS England nationals. Despite it being only the second time out for the elite team of Steven Connell, Dan Salter and Annaliesa House, they made it count – bringing home a bronze with a solid performance of the kata ‘Enpi’.

Steven Connell put in an excellent performance in the individual kata, showing his trademark poise and focus throughout. Things looked difficult during the eliminations as he took a defeat, but came back strongly in the repechage round to secure a well-deserved bronze – the second time he’s achieved this at the JKS Nationals.

Congratulations to all four of our competitors for representing the Academy at a top-level tournament.

Full squad: Ian Connell, Steven Connell, Annaliesa House and Dan Salter.
