Congratulations to Bristol Karate Academy's kata team of Tim Griffiths, Steven Connell and Dan Salter for becoming JKS national champions on Sunday.

The trio took the Senior Team Kata title at the JKS England Open, held at Wildcats Arena in Nottingham, beating teams from East Anglia, Abingdon and - the favourites for the event - Walsall, which included the JKS World and European Junior Kata Champion and all-styles european competitor, Johann Santos and British Karate Federation International Open Veteran Kata Champion, Sharif Ebrihami.

It's the second time Bristol Karate Academy's team have won the Team Kata Gold in the last two attempts, having also won in 2016, with a team of Tim Griffiths, Steven Connell and Ashley Hall. But after Ashley left to continue his post-graduate education in Liverpool the team changed, welcoming Dan Salter, one of the Academy's instructors.

Since coming together at the start of 2018, this is the team's third medal from three attempts, having previously taken Gold at the KUGB Southern Region Championships and Silver at the KUGB National Championships.

Well done to the team for such a successful year!
