A big congratulations to Alistair Hanlon, who passed his 2nd Dan (Nidan) exam on 27th October!

Alistair took his grading in Nottingham, under a grading panel of six senior JKS instructors, lead by the Head of JKS England, Alan Campbell Sensei.

This achievement is the result of many years of hard work. Having started karate in Nailsea and Backwell ten years ago, Alistair passed his shodan exam in 2019 and has been improving his skillset over this time.

Training has ramped up particularly in 2024, with big improvements in Alistair's kumite, which Alistair passed with the highest mark on the day. Alistair has also improved significantly with his katas, having set the tone for the year with a bronze medal at the Murayama Cup in March. In more recent weeks, he's made big strides forward with his 'tokui' (choice) kata, Nijushiho.

We are very proud of Alistair and his achievements and look forward to seeing his continued progress as his karate journey continues.
