Bristol Karate Academy members achieved a record number of medals at this year’s JKS England National Championships.

A team of 17 Academy members travelled to Nottingham’s Wildcats Arena on Sunday 20th November for a long but successful day of competition. The tournament brought together JKS clubs from across England and Wales to compete for the honours of becoming a JKS England National Champion.

We are delighted to confirm that we have three in our midst! Congratulations to Tim Griffiths (Masters’ Male Kata), Oli Hulbert (Children’s Kumite, 8-10 years) and Luke Mashford (Children’s Kickmaster, 7 years and under)!
It was fantastic to see Academy members medal across child, senior and master categories and achieving results in both male and female events.

In total, Academy members earned a whopping 13 medals. Amongst those, we were also thrilled to see two of our younger members medalling on their tournament debuts: congratulations to Luke Mashford and Benjamin Griffiths.

Outside of the medal places we were buoyed by the number of other stand-out performances from everyone that took to the tatami.  From those that put their kata prowess on display to those that fought with an immense amount of passion and spirit.

Our squad continues to grow in strength and we look forward to seeing many other great performances at future events. Thank you for giving it your all.
