Congratulations to Academy instructor, Sensei Dan Salter, for picking up a gold and silver at the BKF British International Open on Saturday.
Freshly back from the JKS International Cup in Brazil, Dan made the trip up to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield where he competed in the Male Veteran Kata and Male Super Veteran Kata events.
At last year’s event, Dan became the BKF International Super Veteran (50 years+) Kata Champion. This year he successfully defended his title, making it two wins in two attempts.
Dan also added a bronze in Male Veteran Kata (35 years+) to his medal haul, adding to his 2026 tally, after picking up silver at the North East Open and a bronze and a silver at the Central England Open earlier this year.
The next tournament open to Academy members is the JKS England Development Series, hosted by Bristol Karate Academy, this coming weekend. We look forward to seeing members both experienced and new to competitions pushing themselves as they step onto the tatami on home soil.
