Bristol Karate Academy

Another exceptional seminar at Bristol Karate Academy on Saturday as we welcomed one of English karate’s most respected instructors, Sensei Matt Price (7th Dan JKS) to an exceptionally hot and sunny South West of England.

Matt Sensei has taught for Bristol Karate Academy more than any other guest instructor. This was Matt Sensei’s 17th visit and the content was just as fresh as ever, starting by exploring new ways of exploring key concepts throughout the all-grade class.

Between the two classes, Academy members had the opportunity to take their kyu grade examinations. We’re delighted to see such a high standard throughout, with everyone trying their best across the two hours of tests.

Congratulations to everyone who passed! It was fantastic to see you all being rewarded for your hard work!

Senior grades were treated to a two-part second seminar, with the first focusing on kata and the second focusing on kumite. Guests and members first explored the katas Kakuyoku Shodan and Kakuyoku Nidan before moving into a kumite surgery session, exploring the challenges that those in the class were getting to grips with.

A big thank you to our members and guests for supporting the event, despite the extreme temperatures. Thank you to those who worked behind the scenes to make sure the event ran as smoothly as everyone comes to expect. And finally, a big thank you to Matt Sensei for taking time out of his schedule to visit the South West and share his knowledge.

This was our 4th of 5 seminars this year. Our final seminar of the year will be on Sunday 15th November and we’ll be announcing our guest instructors over the coming weeks. Keep your eyes peeled!
