Congratulations to Caroline Walton on passing her 3rd Dan in Long Eaton on Sunday!

Caroline passed her grading under a panel including Alan Campbell Sensei (Head of JKS England), Matt Price Sensei (Head squad coach of JKS England) and Daisuke Watanabe Sensei (JKS headquarters instructor and current JKS World Kumite Champion).

After a break from karate, Caroline joined Bristol Karate Academy in 2019 already a black belt, having previously trained with local expert and author, Sensei Bryan Evans.

With renewed enthusiasm for the art, Caroline stepped onto the line once again in 2021, grading to 2nd Dan under Alan Campbell Sensei.

Since passing her nidan exam, Caroline has put in an incredible amount of training to help prepare for her grading. She's racked up over 600 hours of dojo time, including our all-grade classes, brown and black belt classes, club squad sessions and private lessons too. During this time, she's refined her skills and constantly pushing for improvement.

Sunday’s grading event was held after a three hour seminar with the phenomenal Watanabe Sensei. Once training was complete, the hall was cleared of everyone except those taking an exam.

It was fantastic to see Caroline putting all of her learning together in the most outwardly confident way, as she showed the examiners why she deserved her new rank. Her performance of the kata 'Gankaku' was assured, well-paced and supremely spirited.

A massive well done to you, Caroline, for your incredible achievement. Your hard work, patience and efforts have all been worth it. Enjoy your moment!
